Screen Search Console Cart

The Backstory:

Back in around 2004, a user on AtariAge discovered a multi-game console called the Screen Search Console.  It contained 128 games including many NTSC versions of PAL-only games, as well as the two unknown Datatech titles, and games that were modified from their original versions (commonly known as "Hacks").  We were given access to this console back then and reverse engineered the memory chip inside, thus preserving the contents for future gamers.  (Another one was discovered in 2018, which you can read about here!)

A special circuit board was designed for this in 2006, which allowed the user to select games via an exposed DIP switch on the back of the cart, but it was never put into production, as menu driven multi-carts started to appear, life got in the way and interest waned a bit ...

Fast Forward:

Atari releases the line of PLUS consoles - these emulator-based systems do not work with menu driven multi-carts, and gamers on the internet are looking for ways to have more than one game on a single cart.

A private request was received to make a custom cartridge with switches, so we decided to manufacture a very small run (hesitate and you may be out of luck later ...) of the DIP switch driven circuit boards.

Now, we have the whole console content stuffed into one cart, and it has been tested and works on PLUS consoles with stock firmware (no upgrade required!).

The cartridge features a groovy holographic label that can only be truly appreciated when holding it in your hands.  It has seven exposed tiiiny little switches on the back of the cart, which, on a PLUS console can be switched while the system is on, and the game changes almost instantly!

NOTE:

These cartridges are made with cleaned, recycled original Atari shells and may contain slight blemishes, which adds to the "retro feel" and makes it more affordable!
